  • Technology Transfer

The process of providing the private sector access to technological advances developed by scientists in basic research institutions, such as universities and government laboratories.
  • Technology Transfer Documentation

The assembly of data and information as identified by predefined acceptance criteria and provided as a documentation package, which is prepared and passed from the involved departments of the Sending Unit responsible for product, process, or method development to a specified Receiving Unit. The ultimate sign-off of the technology transfer documentation by Development Units, Sending Units, and Receiving Units signifies mutual agreement among all involved parties that the process and test methodology have been developed and demonstrated as satisfying predefined acceptance criteria.
  • TEEE

    Thermoplastic Elastomer, Ether-Ester
  • Telecommunication System

The devices and functions relating to transmission of data between the central processing system and remotely located users.
  • Telomerase

An enzyme that adds telomeric sequences to the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes.
  • Telomere

The end of a chromosome. This specialized structure is involved in the replication and stability of linear DNA molecules.
  • TEMA

    Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association
  • Temperature

A specific degree of heat intensity. There are three temperature designations associated with psychrometrics:1.Dry Bulb (DB) – The air temperature as measured by a standard thermometer.2.Wet Bulb (WB) – The air temperature measured by a thermometer with its reservoir bulb wrapped in a moistened cloth wick and exposed to an air stream moving at a velocity of 1,000 feet per minute.3.Dewpoint temperature (DP) – Also called Saturation Temperature is the temperature at which condensation of moisture begins (air is holding 100% of the moisture it can) when the air is cooled, measured in °F.

  • Template

An RNA or single-stranded DNA molecule upon which a complementary nucleotide strand is synthesized. A pattern or mold. DNA stores coded information and acts as a model or template from which information is copied into complementary strands of DNA or transcribed into mRNA.
  • Temporal Segregation

Separation of products or process ingredients such that two materials do not exist in the same space at the same time.
  • Temporal Separation

Separation of products or process ingredients such that two materials do not exist in the same space at the same time.
  • Tender

Response from a supplier to provide the services or goods defined in the proposal.
  • TEO

    Thermoplastic Elastomer, Olefinic
  • Terabyte

Approximately one trillion bytes; precisely 240 or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes.
  • Teratogen

An agent, such as a virus, a drug, or radiation, that causes malformation of an embryo or a fetus and birth defects in children (liveborn offspring).
  • Teratogenicity

(ICH Q3C (R4)) The occurrence of structural malformations in a developing fetus when a substance is administered during pregnancy.
  • Terminal

A device, usually equipped with a CRT display and keyboard, used to send and receive information to and from a computer via a communication channel.
  • Terminal Filter

HVAC air filtration located at the entry point of air supply to the room (usually at the ceiling).
  • Terminal Sterilization

This term is a gross misnomer because it refers specifically to the terminal heat sterilization of LVPs usually by steam.
  • Terminal Sterilization

The process applied to product sealed in its final container that transforms a non-sterile product into a sterile one.
  • Terminally Ill

For an individual, it means that the subject has a life expectancy of six months or less as stated in writing by his or her attending physician and surgeon.
  • Terminator (of transcription)

A DNA sequence just downstream of the coding segment of a gene, which is recognized by RNA polymerase as a signal to stop synthesizing mRNA. In prokaryotes, terminators usually have an inverted repeat followed by a short stretch of Us at the very end of the transcribed portion. There may also be sequences beyond the transcribed part of the gene which influence the termination of transcription.
  • Tertiary Structure

The total three-dimensional shape of a protein that is essential to protein function.
  • TES

    Thermoplastic Elastomer, Styrenic
